As expected, my Senators from Ohio, Mike DeWine and George Voinovich voted today for cloture on the proposed Marriage Protection Amendment to the US Constitution. Cloture means they wanted to end debate on the issue and send it to the Senate for a vote. It is presumed they would have voted in favor of the discrimatory amendment had it been able to come up for a vote. more »

What has been the cry from religious extremists regarding marriage equality? Judicial activism! They held two national meetings this year to decry judicial activism. Of course, the courts are an OK use of power when it suits their goals, like the 2000 Gore v Bush case or the Terri Shiavo case (before the federal court turned on them). more »
